Waiting For The World To Catch Up

Bonno Bernard - VW Golf

I've had my Golf since Jan 2004, and I've been using biodiesel the whole time. Before the station went in, we had it delivered to the house and I'd pump it myself out of 55 Gal drums. I was in a steel band for years, so I was totally comfortable with that ;-) I got the NOPETRL plate to encourage questions from people.

I love telling folks: Yes - it's veggie oil!

I always feel great turning into the Green Station and fillin' 'er up. You guys are all so friendly... You offer a real community kinship.

Thanks for sticking with it while the rest of the world catches up to the greener truths! I so appreciate your dedication.

Improved Emissions, Locally Produced

Mike Rhoades - Ford F250

“My main reason for running biodiesel is the improved emissions over petroleum diesel, but I also like the idea of using a regionally produced fuel. The performance is also better: the truck idles smoother on biodiesel and delivers slightly better m.p.g. (about 19). Plus it smells good!"

Non Toxic, Great Energy

Jane and Bryan - VW Jetta

“It’s really important to support alternate fuels, even if they cost a bit more than the cheaper stuff that releases fossil carbon into the atmosphere. Biodiesel is simply the pick of the litter when it comes to biofuels – non toxic, great energy input/output ratio, grown in the U.S. and extends engine life because it’s a better lubricant – don’t forget that replacing or rebuilding an engine is energy intensive. 20% increase in engine life is big!”

Save Biodiesel is a grassroots campaign to petition diesel vehicle manufacturers, the Environmental Protection Agency and the California Air Resources Board to ensure that new diesel emission technologies are compatible with biodiesel. The emissions technology currently being used in diesel vehicle models from 2007-2009 has been shown to be incompatible with biodiesel in any blend, from B5 to B100. This poses a great threat to the future of biodiesel as a viable fuel alternative. Read more...

As you may have noticed, the price of biodiesel jumped up last month as biodiesel producers are not currently receiving the renewable fuel tax credit that has been in place for the past 5 years.

First, I’d like to point out that our price has jumped back down considerably the past two weeks, thanks to producers and retailers feeling even more squeezed than before to keep providing clean, renewable, domestic fuel. Again, the renewable fuel tax credit is still not in place.
